Re-use and savings

It can be documented that the pasteurisation process of moulded fibre (paper) egg trays does not cause any extra wear and tear on the trays.

During the pasteurisation process, one single batch of egg-trays looses between 8 - 12 litre of water. Due to the removal of this moisture, the trays become as strong as new ones. They can therefore be re-used several times before they need to be thrown away due to normal mechanical wear and tear or contamination (dirt). Packing centres, manufacturer of egg grading and egg packing machines and Tray Producers estimate that the trays can be re-used a minimum of 25 times using the Dicam - SIK approved microwave system.

Our system is very reliable, safe and uses only 3,6 kW per 1000 trays. It can easely be calculated that the costs to disinfect a paper trays with a Dicam Microwave is about 0,12 Eurocent (including service/maintenance and energy costs). This is 13 times cheaper than cleaning one plastic tray (1,5 Eurocent).
